A psychologist, psychotherapist, and psychiatrist at GGZ voor elkaar form a well-coordinated treatment team that provides the patient with integrated care. Together with patients and their loved ones, we work on the effects of treatment and achieving the established goals.
PSYCHOTHERAPIST
PSYCHOTHERAPIST
A psychotherapist specializes in treating patients with complex mental health complaints. This treatment is often more intensive and longer-term than that provided by a psychologist. Treatment may take place individually or in groups.
A psychotherapist does not solve your problems for you, but helps you look at painful experiences differently, process painful feelings, or approach difficult situations in a different way. The goal of treatment is to resolve your mental health complaints or reduce them enough that they trouble you less.
People enter psychotherapy for different reasons. Examples of mental health problems include anxiety, depression, phobias, compulsions, and personality disorders. These treatments usually fall under specialized mental health care.
You can find more information about this on the website of the National Association of Independent Psychologists and Psychotherapists and on the website of The Dutch Association for Psychotherapy.
